Black Canary best angle. |
Nice @$$ and nice price. That’s
pretty much the interesting parts of the newly unveiled female Premium Format from
Sideshow Collectibles, Black Canary. I liked the ironic pose as well, but overall
she’s no match to Dark Phoenix, Captain Marvel or Batgirl. The exclusive item
isn’t much to care about, the face even though very nice, with a daring expression to convey in sculpt done right is no match to the aforementioned figures. Certainly, though,
is much better than Super-Girl’s strange smile face.
The base is
uninspiring to say the least. I don’t know if Black Canary has a special
relationship with bricks or broken bricks but then again the base doesn’t
compare to the bases of Captain Marvel, Batgirl and even Super-Girl.
On a
brighter side, the price is right and I sure hope that the new PFs unveiled in
Comic Con (Deadpool, anyone?) doesn’t surpass the $500 tag. It’s time to
Sideshow to let the prices quiet down a bit. Both Black Canary and Leonardo
were good indications of it. By the way if you’re not a DC completionist, you
should pick the turtle instead of this girl, in my opinion, since the sculpture
is not short of amazing, albeit a bit small for PF collectors, I guess it is somewhere
1/5 and 1/6. Still it has much more production value than the Black Canary, in
my opinion.
In one
word, for DC collectors Black Canary is a sure buy. The price is right and the
sculpt albeit a bit uninspired has its beauty. For non-DC-maniacs there’s
always the perfect butt of hers. It’s not a bad figure but it’s not a marvelous
piece either.
